The authors presented an unusual case of uric acid deposits (tophi)
inside the pelvis of a patient suffering from chronic gouty arthritis.
Computed-tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
of the abdomen and pelvis showed tophi around both hips and a
lesion in the pelvic cavity along the iliopsoas or greate flexor
muscle of the hip joint. The gouty deposit thus mimicked an abscess
(pus filled cavity) in the pelvis.
